SAVE THE DATE: Mischa Kuball opens Solo Exhibition boiler house at KINDL

Today, the former boiler house of the Kindl Brewery contains no machinery, boilers, or other technical remnants. In boiler house, this absence becomes the starting point for the artistic work. The space itself takes centre stage while simultaneously pointing to its industrial past.
A system of rotating mirrors, conceived as a resonance of emptiness, continuously alters the perception of the boiler house. Depending on their speed, the mirrors either expand the space or break it down into fleeting reflections. Rather than reconstructing the building’s former equipment, the installation asks how the space can be experienced anew through movement, light, and perception.
The urban space also becomes part of the work: a single light source is captured by the mirrors and projected outward through the open windows into the surrounding urban space of Neukölln. The installation thus connects the interior of the boiler house with its immediate surroundings.
Sound performances by Abi Asisa and Severin Black complement the installation. Their rhythmically variable structures evoke the industrial history of the site and place the mirrors and their movements within an acoustic context.
boiler house thus brings together the history of the former boiler house and its present-day use as an exhibition space. Mirrors, light, sound, and the movement of visitors make the space perceptible in different ways, creating a connection between the interior and the surrounding urban space.
The exhibition is on view May 30, 2027.
